Contrast: Its Roles and Responsibilities
Another Extract from my forthcoming book: "WordWeavers and SpellCasters"
Below is a small extract from a much larger journey into the nature of contrast in our life. You could think of contrast as the dissatisfied feeling you have with how things are going in your life, or as the chaos and unpleasantness you deal with in your life, the sense of missing out or not getting what you want, some even consider things such as the Devil or demons, possession or interference that ‘made them do it’ (whatever it is!), these are all aspects of contrast in our lives.
The basis of our world is such that when you choose to pursue something, when you choose to create a circumstance in your life, you get the whole of it and the whole of it includes its contrast. This idea is often called duality. Our world is a whole world, it includes the dark and the light, the good and the bad, in includes both sides of the coin - the middle of the coin, the coin itself and its surrounds actually, but in terms of the whole what we're considering here is the duality, the both sides, the good and the bad, that form the wholeness of the circumstance or concept you are pursuing.
So, ask yourself what you pursue and how are you being shown the contrast to what you pursue? For instance, you choose to focus on purity and goodness. Well, the contrast is impurity and badness, so your focus draws to you that which is its opposite and that which throws your pursuit into contrast, as an opportunity to investigate and understand what it is you pursue and how you are pursuing it. Are you drawn into the impurity and badness, or do you maintain your focus?
The opposite and the contrast is very appealing. It is very seductive and on the surface often seems more pleasurable and easy, but it is contrast presented by your focus as part of the whole. Both ends of the spectrum, both sides of the coin exist – which do you choose, which do you focus upon?
When we get detoured into the contrast what do we experience? We experience the entropy or decay, we experience the chaotic flows of Self and we veer further from the peaceful, joyful, loving and living flows of Eternal Source. We move further apart from God. But the contrast has a trick, its job is actually to show the Benevolence in all its glory - it exists to show you the other side, it exists to draw you back to God by being the antitheses of this.
We think 'why can't everything be peaceful joyful easy'? If it was would you value that? No because you have not experienced the contrast! When you understand what peace, joy, love and God really means and feels like, then you have no need for the contrast, you understand the road of return to Self and the experience of living your life in alignment with the harmonious flows of the universe, with the co-creative flows, actions and choices of the heart of creation. Until then the contrast is there to draw you back to what you really want by drawing you away from the peace you seek.
